1. The
sexton or his/her designee, of
2. Decorum
People entering the cemetery are expected to
conduct themselves with proper decorum, i.e. no disturbing the peace, no loud
music, no fireworks, no consumption of alcohol, drugs. No littering, no criminal mischief, and no
refusing to abide by these regulations.
3. It
shall be unlawful for any person, persons, or group of persons to hunt or
possess any weapons in the cemetery, provided however, that this subsection
shall not apply to military funerals or to Memorial Day exercises.
4. The
legal speed for any and all vehicles shall not be in excess of fifteen (15)
miles per hour in the cemetery.
5. All
vehicles are restricted to established roads except for City personnel and
vehicles under their supervision.
6. The
sexton will direct the setting of all monuments, markers or permanent flower
holders. Please call City Hall, 683-4245
to notify the sexton when placement will take place. If the monuments, markers, or permanent
flower holders are placed without permission of the sexton or are placed
improperly, the sexton will notify the responsible party and will assist in
bringing the placement into compliance with cemetery regulations.
7. Any
permanent flower holder must be constructed and placed in such a manner that
permits mowing around it without danger to the mower operator.
*Existing permanent flower holder(s) (placed prior
to adoption of these regulations) will remain in their current location.
*Existing shepherd hook(s) (placed prior to
adoption of these regulations) will be moved to the side(s) or back of the
headstone (unless they are currently place in a permanent manner. The sexton will assist with placement.
*No decoration of flat stones unless the flat stone
is at the head of the grave.
8. Seasonal
Clean-Up
*All decorations placed from Memorial Day forward
must be removed by October 1st for fall clean-up.
*All decorations placed from December 1st
forward must be removed by May 1st to allow for spring clean-up.
*Any old decorations left at gravesites during
clean-up periods will be removed at the discretion of the sexton (thus allowing
for placement of new decorations placed by out of town visitors or residents
with time constraints).
9. No
planting of flowers, shrubs and trees
Existing flowers, shrubs, or trees (planted prior
to adoption of these regulations) will remain in their current location.
Glass containers will not be allowed in the
cemetery.
10. All
new monuments, markers or permanent flower holders, including shepherds hooks
must be set with a concrete wash at least three inches in width around all
sides and flush to the ground to permit mowing.
11. No new
lot or grave site shall be defined by a fence, railing, coping or hedge.
12. Only
one headstone per grave space. All other
markers must be installed at ground level.
13. Maximum
number of burials per grave space shall be:
One earth burial one cremains or three cremains.
14. All
burials, other than cremains and infants, shall require the use of a grave
liner to prevent the settling of a grave.
Families are urged to consider subsequent interment plans and funeral
directors’ advise regarding outer burial containers for cremains and infants.
15. The
City of Dillon and/or their designated representatives are the only persons
that may perform burials in the cemetery.
In the case of a cremains burial to take place on a Saturday, the
cemetery sexton, after receiving a properly executed burial order, will
excavate for cremains and close the excavation.
16. Cemetery
lots (spaces) will be sold only by the cemetery clerk or the clerk’s designee.
17. A
burial form must be completed by the cemetery clerk or the clerk’s designee and
delivered to the sexton before a grave is OPENED.
18. Notice
of one business day must be given prior to the time of a burial. No burials will take place on Saturday
afternoons, Sundays or holidays.
19. No
dogs or other pets are allowed to run or be on a leash in the cemetery.
20. Transit
permits required before burial.
